cool one's heels 久等
【講解】
cool one’s heels讓某人空等,久等,此語產生於16世紀,原指馬蹄在跑了很長一段路後,開始變熱,主人必須停下來歇息,讓馬蹄涼下來後再趕路。後來此語轉而指人, 即人在走了很長一段路後,發熱的腳跟因等別人都變涼了,而所等的人仍遲遲不到。因此cool one’s heel表示“苦苦等候,空等”。

B:I'm coming.
B:來了。
