Wendy: Oh, hi, May. Long time no see.
May: Yes, we haven't seen each other since elementary school. I miss you so much.

May: Nothing much except I've got in a very exciting school.
Wendy: Really? What school is that?
May: Joy Chain High School. How about you?
Wendy: Oh, me? I am at the Affiliated High School of Peking University.
May: Wow, you are always so great!
Wendy: Say, what time is it?
May: 4:00 p.m. Why?
Wendy: Oh, God! I've got to run. I've got an appointment with my foreign teacher at 4:30. She helps me with my oral English.
May: That's great. So where are you going?

Grammar 語法小結不定冠詞和定冠詞
1．不定冠詞a 和an
不定冠詞a和an 表示“一（個，只，支，本……）”,放於可數名詞單數前表示“泛指”，也可表示某人或某物屬於某一種類。
a 限用於讀音爲輔音開頭的單數可數名詞之前。如：a book（一本書），a bike
（一輛自行車）等。an限用於元音讀音（a, o, e, i, u ）開頭的單數可數名詞之前。如：an apple(一個蘋果），an orange (一個橘子)，an egg(一個雞蛋）。如果該名詞前有個修飾語，則以該修飾語的第一個字母讀音是輔音還是元音而定。如：
a desk 一張課桌——an old desk 一張舊課桌——a big desk 一張大課桌
an apple 一個蘋果——a nice apple 一個好吃的蘋果——a green apple 一個青蘋果
a car 一輛車——a Chinese car 一輛中國造的車——an English car 一輛英國造的車
2．不定冠詞the
（1）定冠詞the 是特指，表示“這個，那個”
I have two pens. The red one is more expensive than the blue one.
我有兩支鋼筆。紅色的那支比藍色的那支貴。
（2）定冠詞的用法
a. 樂器前加the。
play the piano 彈鋼琴 play the violin 拉小提琴
b. 宇宙獨一無二的東西前加the。
The earth moves around the sun. 地球繞着太陽轉。
c. 表示“方向”時加the。
the north 北方 the south 南方 the east 東方 the west 西方
d. 在固定短語中加the。
in the morning / afternoon / evening 在上午/ 下午/ 晚上
e. 再次提到上文提到過的人或物，加定冠詞the。
May has an apple, the apple is big and red. 阿美有個蘋果，蘋果又大又紅。
f. 指談話雙方都知道的人或物。
Let's go and give it to the teacher. 咱們去把它交給老師吧。
g. 用在表示“姓”的複數名詞前，表示一家人或夫婦二人。

（3）零冠詞
零冠詞就是不用冠詞，以下兩種情況不用冠詞：
a.在星期、月份等名詞前。

b.在球類運動、一日三餐和語言的名詞前。
