文中的dialect就是“方言”的意思，比如the Shanghai dialect(上海方言)、northern dialect(北方方言)。它的形容詞是dialectical，意思是“方言的、有方言特徵的”，需要注意的是，dialectical還有另外一個意思，就是“辯證的、辯證法的”，如dialectical materialism(辯證唯物主義)。
