More than 11 million people in the Horn of Africa require food assistance due to the region's worst drought in half a century, the United Nations says.
The UN says that famine exists in two regions of southern Somalia, southern Bakool and Lower Shabelle. Across the country, nearly half of the Somali population — 3.7 million people — are now in crisis, of whom anestimated 2.8 million people are in the south.
But parts of Kenya and Ethiopia are also in crisis.
聯合國聲明指出，非洲之角半個世紀以來最嚴重的乾旱導致該地區1100多萬人急需食物援助。
聯合國稱饑荒存在於索馬里南部地區---巴克勒州南部和下謝貝利州。索馬里全國近一半人口---370萬人正面臨這樣一個危機，其中大約有280萬是在南部地區。
但是肯尼亞和埃塞俄比亞部分地區也面臨着相同的危機。
