全國校外培訓機構專項治理工作啓動

Seven teams will be sent to all of China's provinces and autonomous regions to evaluate how well education authorities are regulating after-school training institutions for primary and secondary school students, the Ministry of Education said last Wednesday.

教育部上週三表示，七個督查組將被派往全國所有省份和自治區，評估教育部門對中小學校外培訓機構的治理情況。

The inspectors, sent by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Civil Affairs and the State Administration for Market Regulation, will also make random checks on tutoring institutions as well as on primary and middle schools, according to a notice on the education ministry's website.

根據教育部網站發佈的通知，教育部、民政部、國家市場監管總局派出的督查組還將抽查中小學校以及校外培訓機構。

Many tutoring institutions focus on teaching pupils how to perform well in exams, rather than aiding the wider educational development of the child, according to a statement issued by the ministry and three other central government departments at the end of February.

根據外交部和其他三個中央政府部門在2月底發佈的聲明，許多培訓機構專注於教導學生如何在考試中考好，而不是在孩子更廣泛的教育發展上提供幫助。

Tutoring institutions are not allowed to organize graded examinations or conduct competitions for primary and secondary school students.

In addition, the results of training from these institutions cannot be used as criteria for future enrollment in primary or middle school.

"Teachers who lure or pressure students to attend after-school training classes will be dealt with seriously or even stripped of their teaching credentials," said the notice.
