多家汽車巨頭擬建覆蓋歐洲充電樁網絡

Volkswagen AG, BMW AG and Ford Motor Co plan to set up a European network for the speedy charging of electric-car batteries.

近日，大衆汽車公司、寶馬汽車公司和福特汽車公司計劃攜手打造一個覆蓋歐洲的電動汽車電池快速充電網絡。

The partnership, which will also include Mercedes-Benz parent Daimler AG, aims to establish "thousands" of stations along European highways by 2020, the automakers said last Tuesday.

梅賽德斯-奔馳的母公司戴姆勒汽車公司也將參與其中。這些汽車製造商於上週二表示，計劃在2020年前在歐洲的高速公路上建立數千個充電站。

With an initial target of about 400 sites, the group plans to start the rollout in 2017, deploying technology that will be "significantly faster" than current setups.

"A reliable, ultra-fast charging infrastructure is important for mass consumer adoption and has the potential to transform the possibilities for electric driving," Ford Chief Executive Officer Mark Fields said.

The broad-based cooperation shows the strains on carmakers as they invest billions of dollars to develop battery-powered vehicles to comply with tighter environmental regulations.

這項大範圍的合作顯示出了目前汽車製造商所承受的壓力，爲遵守更爲嚴格的環境法規，他們投資數十億美元開發電池動力汽車。

Buyers have so far shown little interest in current models because of limited driving range, the time needed for recharging and the high price of vehicles.
