校花與校草
很多年以前，學校、班級，甚至宿舍就已經有“花”這個稱謂了，說的是學校、班級或者宿舍範圍內最漂亮的女孩子。可是，校園裏只有花是不行的。於是，就有了現在跟“校花”相映成趣的“校草”。今天我們就來討論一下“校花”和“校草”的英文說法。
“校花”的英文說法最常見的有school babe和campus belle兩種。
Babe is a word used to address a young woman, oryour wife, husband or lover, usually expressingaffection but sometimes considered offensive ifused by a man to a woman he does not know. Nowmany people use it to refer to an attractive young woman, for example: she is really a babe.
Babe這個詞是對年輕女子或愛人的暱稱，男子用以稱呼不相識的女子則有冒犯之嫌。不過，現在很多人都用這個詞來指代年輕貌美的女子。例如：她真是個美女。
French word "belle" means beautiful woman, hence, campus belle is the most beautiful girl inthe school.
Belle是個法語詞，意思是“美麗的女人”，那麼campus belle也就是學校裏最美麗的女子(即“校花”)了。
“校草”的英文表達呼聲最高的當屬school hunk了。
Hunk is a slang term for a sexually appealing man, a person who is sexually attractive or awell-muscled, sexualized man.
Hunk是個俚語表達，指性感有魅力的男子，或者身形健壯、有吸引力的男子。

1. zero hour 重要決定或變化到來的時刻;危險行動的時刻
zero hour是源於第一次世界大戰的軍事用語，用以指發起進攻等軍事行動的準確時刻，後被用來指重要決定或變化到來的時刻。
Zero hour for the bombers to take off was midnight. 轟炸機起飛的時間是午夜12點。
It was zero hour and the doctor began the operation on the man.
關鍵時候到了，醫生開始爲那人做手術。
2.A number one 第一流的，頭等的
The A number one material sells well. 那種頭等布料很暢銷。
After our holiday, we were in A one condition. 休假後，我們的身體狀況都很好。
to number/square one 從頭開始
在20世紀30年代的英國，爲了方便解說，收音機在轉播足球比賽時，《廣播時報》(Radio Times)上常常會有一幅球場平面圖。平面圖分爲多個有號碼的方格，這樣廣播員只要說出第幾個方格，聽衆就可以知道球員到哪裏了。back to number/square one就是回到球賽開始的地方，換句話說就是恢復原來的狀態，以前的努力白費了，必須再來一次。這一用法現常和go/be連用，表示“退回起點，從頭開始”等，多用於口語中。
We’ve got to get this done without going back to square one.
我們得把它完成，而不要從頭再來。
