萬維網演變爲“分裂網”
你有沒有碰到過這樣的問題：在一個瀏覽器裏能正常顯示的頁面，用另一個瀏覽器卻可能無法打開？隨着各種手持電子設備的普及，像這樣標準不同、互不兼容的問題也越發普遍。難怪有業內人士說，如今的互聯網都快成“分裂網”了。

Describing the splintering of internet technology, some writers see the problem in terms of new devices using different standards. Users no longer require web browsers to access the Internet, as new hardware tools often come with their own "unique set of standards" for displaying information。
在說到互聯網技術分裂這個問題時，有些人認爲癥結在於很多新設備應用的標準都不一樣。用戶不再需要網絡瀏覽器來接入因特網，因爲新興的硬件工具在展示信息時使用的都是其自帶的“獨特的一套標準”。
Journalist and author Doc Searls, uses the term "splinternet" to describe the problem, which contribute to the various, and sometimes incompatible standards which often make it hard for search engines to use the data. As new devices incorporate their own ad networks, format, and technology, many are able to "hide content" from search engines。
記者兼作家Doc Searls用splinternet(分裂網)這個詞來指代上述問題，該問題導致各種標準的出現，有時不同標準互不兼容，使得搜索引擎無法正常使用數據信息。新興的設備合成了自己獨有的廣告網絡、格式以及技術後，大部分都能夠將內容信息“隱藏”，從而不被搜索引擎發現。
For example, web pages don't look the same because of the screen size and don't work the same since the iPhone doesn't support Flash。
例如，因爲硬件屏幕尺寸的問題，網頁的顯示會有差異；或者因爲iPhone不支持Flash軟件，所以有些網頁就不會正常顯示。
