一場精彩紛呈的女人戲，自然是女演員的天下。製片方自然也頗費心思地爲影片打造了“以老帶新”的女星陣容。首先奧斯卡黃金級別的老戲骨戴安•基頓的光彩頭銜，絕對稱得上爲影片增色不少。
黛安•基頓堪稱是好萊塢女星中著名的演技派之一。她在藝術上執着追求，大多塑造現代西方的睿智女性形象。她同好萊塢最著名的喜劇大師伍迪•艾倫長期合作，在影壇上獨闢一派，創造了“市民風俗喜劇”。這位影后於1946年1月5日出生在美國加里福尼亞州聖莫尼卡市。父親是位工程師，漂亮的母親曾是選美比賽中的勝者。自幼便喜歡錶演的她一直都得到了父母的支持。黛安上大學不久便中途輟學，到紐約的奈瓦福特劇院去系統學習表演技巧。經過專業訓練後，她登上百老匯的舞臺，演出了《頭髮》一劇。1972年，首次躋身大銀幕，在影片《教父》裏扮演黑手黨第二代教父邁克爾的妻子凱，由於此角的成功，1974年又在《教父續集》裏扮演同一角色。黛安•基頓至今共有兩次被提名奧斯卡獎，一次折桂。得獎作品爲《安妮•霍爾》。她在該片中成功地刻畫了一個紐約知識階層婦女的形象。黛安•基頓的表演充滿了溫馨和喜趣，她那浪漫的舉止、執俏的對白和矜持的目光無不是對社會的現實與人生的嘲諷。片中她穿男式襯衫，戴領帶，外面又套一件夾克衫，下身則穿肥大的長褲，這套服裝隨着影片的成功而風靡一時，成爲當時許多婦女競相仿效的時裝。黛安•基頓第二次被奧斯卡獎提名是在《赤色分子》中的演出。她扮演一個風流倜儻的女記者路易絲。路易絲原先是有丈夫的，但被進步記者約翰•裏德的獻身精神所傾倒……

每年二月，都堪稱是小成本電影發跡的春天。尤其是喜劇與恐怖類型片，大都能以他們獨特的故事情節和簡單輕鬆的氛圍吸引觀衆們駐足欣賞。二月初上映的本片處於冬春兩季的交接的檔期，這個時段影片基本是充當爲暴風驟雨般的暑期檔做熱身的角色。此類喜劇片最適合此時解凍迎春。尤其是本片“母親代女兒相親，又反遭抵抗”的噱頭在此類輕喜劇中略顯少見。而且有無論對待何種角色都能爆發出強烈個人魅力的戴安•基頓和在年輕人里人氣指數頗高的曼迪?摩爾等人的強力加盟，更成爲本片最大的賣點。自然能吸引不少處於相同年齡段的女性觀衆的觀看。而且，輕鬆搞笑且略顯另類的愛情喜劇故事自然也能在情人節前後打動更多的情侶觀衆掏錢加入。因此，從前景上來看該片足可以在票房爭奪戰中小有作爲。
中國的母親花----萱草花
早在康乃馨成爲母愛的象徵之前，我國也有一種母親之花，它就是萱草花。萱草是百合科多年生草本植物，根莖肉質，葉狹長，細長的枝頂端開出桔紅或桔黃色的花，十分豔麗，它不僅供人觀賞，花蕾叫金針，也可作蔬菜供人食用，在我國南北方廣爲栽植。
萱草又名"諼草"、"金針"、"宜男草"等，《救荒本草》叫它"川草花"；《古今注》稱之爲"丹棘"；《說文》記載爲"忘憂草"；《本草綱目》名之爲"療愁"。在英名day lily是"一日百合"的意思，點出了萱草花期只有一天的短暫。
萱草在我國有幾千年載培歷史，萱草又名諼草，諼就是忘的意思。最早文字記載見之於《詩經·衛風·伯兮》："焉得諼草，言樹之背"。朱熹注曰："諼草，令人忘憂；背，北堂也。"另一稱她忘憂，來自《博物志》中："萱草，食之令人好歡樂，忘憂思，故日忘憂草。"詩經疏稱："北堂幽暗，可以種萱"；北堂即代表母親之意。古時候當遊子要遠行時，就會先在北堂種萱草，希望母親減輕對孩子的思念，忘卻煩憂。唐朝孟郊《遊子詩》寫道："萱草生堂階，遊子行天涯；慈母倚堂門，不見萱草花。"王冕《偶書》"今朝風日好，堂前萱草花。持杯爲母壽，所喜無喧譁。"陶潛的飲酒詩："泛此忘憂物，遠我遺世情"。歷代文人也常以之爲詠吟的題材，曹植爲之作頌，蘇東坡爲之作詩，夏侯湛爲之作賦，一一的點出萱草在生活中的地位。
萱草又叫做宜男草。民間有一傳說，當婦女懷孕時，在胸前插上一枝萱草花就會生男孩，故名宜男。唐玄宗時，興慶宮中栽種了多種萱草，有人作詩譏諷說："清萱到處碧鬖鬖，興慶宮前色倍含；借問皇家何種此？太平天子要宜男。"
萱草既可入藥，又可作菜餚。北方人喚作黃花菜，廣東 人叫做金針；《本草綱目》載曰："今東人採其花而貨之，名爲黃花菜。"拉丁學名的種名fulva，就是"黃褐色"的意思。又其花絲細長，狀如古時金針，又名金針菜。
歷代醫書討論萱草甚爲詳細，《本草注》謂："萱草味甘，令人好戲，樂而忘憂。"晉代嵇康在《養生論》中寫道："合歡蠲忿，萱草忘憂，愚智所共知也。"（蠲通"捐"，是拋棄之意）。《本草求真》謂："萱草味甘而氣微涼，能去溼利水，除熱通淋，止渴消煩，開胸寬膈，令人心平氣和，無有憂鬱。"清同治期間，稱着江南的費伯雄於《醫方論》說："勞者，五臟積勞也。傷者，七情受傷也。百憂感其心，萬事勞其形，憂愁太過，忽忽不樂……萱草忘憂湯主之。" 1993年王楚翹、範斌等報導《萱草花治療失眠症的臨牀與實驗報告》，認爲此藥有鎮靜安眠作用，且少有副作用，對各種原因引起的失眠症，尤其是肝功能障礙伴有失眠者，是一種比較理想的藥物。
萱草花有藥食同功的雙重功能，不但營養價值極高，且有極好的健腦效果，在 日本 稱爲健腦菜，並列爲"植物性食品中最有代表性的健腦食品之一"。另外，據吳李久華在《延壽考》中雲："嫩苗爲蔬，食之動風，令人昏然如醉，因名忘憂"。《羣芳譜》記載："春食苗，夏食花，其雅牙花的跗皆可食。但性冷下氣，不可多食"。《中藥大辭典》載其含有生物鹼、黃酮類。據測定每100克乾製品中含蛋白質9.14克、脂肪0.4－0.25克、糖分50－60.2克、鈣300－463毫克，並含有維生素A、B、C及多種微量元素。
藥食俱佳的金針菜，傳說與神醫華佗有關。華佗生在社會混亂瘟疫流行的東漢末年。有一年，華佗到 江蘇 泗陽行醫時，忽然曹操派人來請華佗爲他治療頭疼之疾。華佗不從，曹兵以刀相逼。當天夜裏，華佗轉輾反側不能入眠，朦朧中見一仙人，吩咐華佗如此這般，然後把金針向他懷裏一扔，便飄然飛走。華佗醒來，果然在胸前摸到一把金針。翌日華佗含淚向送別的人說："今有一束金針，送與你們解救災難！"說完手一揚，一束金光，飛向四面八方。衆人隨着金光望去，只見漫山遍野長滿了葉青青，花黃黃的植物。人們採其花蕾煮水喝下去，慢慢地止住了瘟疫。金針菜從此傳遍各地，經過人們的嘗試，不僅能治病，而且還是一道可口的菜餚呢！
萱草在現代化學染料出現之前，還是一種常用的染料。另外，萱草對氟十分敏感，當空氣受到氟污染時，萱草葉子的尖端就變成紅褐色，所以常被用來監測環境是否受到氟污染的指針植物。
