COM port即COM接口，是指Component Object Mode接口，是微软定义的标准接口。是一种串行通讯端口。COM口的接口标准规范和总线标准规范是RS-232，有时候也叫做RS-232口。
电脑上的COM口多为9针，最大速率115200bps。通常用于连接鼠标(串口)及通讯设备(如连接外置式MODEM进行数据通讯)等。但目前主流的主板一般都只带1个串口，甚至不带，慢慢会被USB 取代。以前用于连接老式的COM口鼠标键盘，还有链接路由器，外置调制解调器等。现在很少使用。
现在的PC机一般有两个串行口COM 1和COM 2。串行口不同于并行口之处在于它的数据和控制信息是一位接一位地传送出去的。虽然这样速度会慢一些，但传送距离较并行口更长，因此若要进行较长距离的通信时，应使用串行口。通常COM 1使用的是9针D形连接器，也称之为RS-232接口，而COM 2有的使用的是老式的DB25针连接器，也称之为RS-422接口，这种接口目前已经很少使用。
