審題時間的控制
如果說獨立寫作是閉卷考試，那麼你花上3～5分鐘的時間去審題，去構思，是很必要的。但是，實際情況是，獨立寫作是開卷考試，首先題庫公開，它的題型和題材都不會超出題庫的範圍，你總會在題庫中找到類似的題目，加之機經的強大力量，使得TOEFL獨立寫作真的成了開卷考試。既然是開卷考試，大家就應該把審題的工作放到考試之前做，爭取在1分鐘之內完成，不要浪費時間，把時間用來打字，而不是思考上面。那些思維風暴、切題思路之類的，應該是事先已經準備過，訓練過的。如果考到了你從來沒接觸過的題，只能說明你沒有準備到位，如果你的審題時間超過了2分鐘，那麼你的準備也沒有到位，這就是開卷考試的備考思維，滿分不是臨場發揮出來的，而是準備出來的。
保質保量
如果不能保證文章的質量，可以從數量入手，有位同學獨立寫作30分鐘寫了600字，拿了滿分。當然他肯定有一些不足和錯誤，可是仍然不影響滿分。可見如果不能把文章寫得很漂亮，不能寫出亮點，那就多寫點吧，字數多也是亮點。
打造黃金模板
假設你的文章字數是400字，那麼你大概要寫40～50個句子。把這40～50個句子，排成編號，從第一個到第40個，也就是從文章的第一句話到最後一句話，你都知道要寫什麼，並且知道怎麼寫，甚至每個句子你都掌握了2～3個漂亮的句式，那麼你還怕自己不拿高分麼?再假設，這40～50個句子，你有50%都已經是固定句式了，也就是成了自己的寫作套路，那麼你還愁文章寫不完麼?比如說，我總是喜歡在文章最後一句話說：In a word, it is rather superficial to simply say that.........+觀點， 給個真題例子：In a word, it is rather superficial to simply say that parents are the best teachers。用一句話說，簡單地認爲父母是最好的老師是相當膚淺的。 大家想一想，任何事情simply say都可以說是相當膚淺的。因此這句話就是一句比較萬能的結束語。
合理利用題庫
題庫中一共有185個題目，如果說每個題目都準備一篇範文是相當不可取的，效率太低，完全沒有必要，壓縮題庫的方法主要有2種：
A. 將題庫分類。每個分類寫1～2篇就可以解決這個類的題目。
B. 文章之間的互相轉化：
TOPIC1：你最崇拜的人是誰?why
ANSWER： 毛澤東。原因：A.B.C
TOPIC2： 如果你能回到過去，你想見誰?why ?
ANSWER：毛澤東。原因：A.B.C

最後，如果大家的準備時間只剩可憐的不到2個月，別急，嚴格按照以下的計劃進行也是很有考出高分的可能的：
第一階段(1周)：隨機閱讀10-15篇官方範文，每天2-3篇。做筆記，背誦其中有用的詞彙以及句型。
第二階段(2周)：改寫10-20篇範文。每天1-2篇。每天睡覺前背誦當天改寫過的作文，這個階段沒必要限定每篇完成的時間。
第三階段(1周)：不限時練習5-10篇，每天1-2篇。一定要不限時，這樣才能保證質量。多查字典，反覆修改。如果時間充裕，應該多練5-10篇。
第四階段(2周)：限時練習10篇，每天練習一次，每次限時25分鐘完成——只有這樣才能在考場上游刃有餘。
注意：完成之後，有時間的話可以反覆修改。最重要的是，睡覺之前，把當天的作文背誦下來，並且在第二天做默寫練習。
