點滴英語天天學第14課:nod(5)
歡迎大家來到《點滴英語天天學》，我是網站的Juliet老師。今天我們開始第14課的學習。
在今天的課堂上，我們將要來學習的是用含有nod這個詞語，可以表示“to be given permission or approval to do something”這個意思的一個Idiom。它是什麼呢？我們不妨來看下面的這段話：
Our family was very poor at that time. Our mother’s main concern was for my further education. I got the nod from her to study Japanese in Japan in the end.
這段話是說：我們當時家境貧窮，母親最擔心的是我能否深造，她答應讓我去日本進修日語。我們可以看到段落中用到了get the nod這個短語。細究這個段落，我們要注意3個要點。
第一個要點是短語：at that time。它是表示時間的副詞性短語。For another example: At that time they showed great concern for the future of their country. （那時他們對國家的前途深表擔憂。）
第二個要點是2個短語：main concern。Concern在這裏的意思是“所關心的事”，main concern 的意思即爲“焦點，主要的顧慮”。For another example: Our main concern is that they are not receiving enough help.（我們最憂慮的是他們一直沒有得到足夠的幫助。）Further education的意思爲“繼續教育；進修”。For another example: She were diddled out of a chance for further education just because of their poor family.（就是由於家庭貧寒，她被剝奪了繼續受教育的機會。）
第三個要點是：表示得到某人的許可，允許，我們在get the nod後面用上介詞“from”，即：get the nod from somebody。For another example: I got the nod from the instructor in our department to take part in the international ballet competition.（我得到我係導師的允許去參加國際芭蕾舞比賽。）
爲了加深您對get the nod這個習語的印象，熟練掌握它的運用，我們再來看2個例句：
Only if she got the nod from her teacher, Mary was allowed to enter this room. 只有得到教師的允許，學生纔可以進這間屋子。
Sad to say, she didn’t got the nod from her head master to engage in advanced studies in America .不幸的是，校長沒有批准她去美國進修。
