A: The teacher was really upset about that broken window. Thank goodness Tommie has a reputation as a sincere, honest boy.
B: If he had not been straightforward with her, we would have all been in trouble.
A: He was direct and said we were all throwing snowballs and really didn’t know who had hit the window and he apologized.
B: Because of his candid response and childlike frankness she couldn’t be angry.
A: 老師對打破窗戶的事很生氣。謝天謝地，Tommie一向被認爲是個真誠、老實的孩子。
B: 要不是他向老師坦白了這件事，我們都會有麻煩的。

A: But “white lies” are necessary sometimes. Dick was straightforward and sincere in telling Mary she was too fat; she left him!
