美語情景對話 第265期:Trip to the Hospital 去醫院
Adrienne: Hey, Ian, tell me about the time you were at the hospital.
埃德里安娜：嗨，伊恩，跟我說說你第一次去醫院是什麼時候吧。Ian: What, the first time I went to the hospital?
伊恩：什麼，我第一次去醫院？Adrienne: Yes, the first time.
埃德里安娜：對，第一次。
Ian: The first time I went to hospital was when I was 13 years old and it was the day of my birthday and I had a pain in my right side and I'd been sick the day before and so on my birthday my mom phoned the hospital and the doctor decided I should go to hospital and I had my appendix out.
伊恩：我13歲時第一次去醫院，那天是我的生日，我右邊有點疼，而且我前一天病了，所以我媽媽在我生日那天給醫院打電話，醫生認爲我應該去醫院，然後我去做了闌尾手術。Adrienne: OW! That sounds painful!
埃德里安娜：哇！那聽起來很痛苦！Ian: Mm, but there's more! On my 18th birthday, I had like a lump in my throat, and I couldn't breathe properly and again my mother phoned the doctors and I went to the hospital again and my right lung had collapsed.
伊恩：嗯，還有呢！我18歲生日那天，我覺得喉嚨哽咽，我不能正常呼吸，於是我媽媽又給醫生打了電話，然後我又一次去了醫院，我的右肺閉合了。Adrienne: Oh, my goodness!
埃德里安娜：哦，我的天哪！Ian: I know. I spent about 8 days in hospital and it was is Wales. I always remember being in Wales because I had problems understanding the doctor's accent, and then, are you ready, there's more.
伊恩：我知道你的感受。我在威爾士的醫院住了八天。我依然記得那是在威爾士是因爲我實在聽不懂醫生的口音，接下來，你準備好了嗎，還有更多的事情。Adrienne: Tell me.
埃德里安娜：跟我說說。Ian: Again when I was 20 years old I was at university in Leeds, and again I had a lump in my throat and I had problems breathing. I went to the hospital and the same thing again. My right lung had collapsed.
伊恩：之後我20歲時，我在利茲上大學，然後我又感到喉嚨哽咽，而且再次出現了呼吸困難的問題。我去了醫院，結果是因爲同樣的原因，我的右肺閉合了。Adrienne: Collapsed!
埃德里安娜：閉合！Ian: Yes, but this time, because we were in a big city, they had more sophisticated medical equipment and they put a syringe, made a very small hole in my chest and put the syringe into my lung and drained away the excess air and my lung was inflated again.
伊恩：對，不過這次因爲我們在一個大城市，他們有更先進的醫療設備，所以他們在我的胸部開了一個小洞，然後把注射器推進我的肺部，排出多餘的空氣，然後我的肺部就恢復正常了。Adrienne: Did it hurt?
埃德里安娜：那疼嗎？Ian: Not as much as the first time. And I only spent a day in hospital and then they sent me home, but there's more. A week later I had the same problem, a lump in my throat, and I had problems breathing and so I went to the hospital again and my right lung had collapsed again, for the third time, so this time the doctors decided they had to do a bigger operation to make sure that this wouldn't happen again so I was at hospital for two weeks and they cut away the top part of my lung, and stitched me back up and now my lungs are absolutely fine. I've had no problems since and I'm doing lots of running and I feel much better, but I don't want to have the same thing again. Ever!
伊恩：不像第一次那麼疼。我只在醫院住了一天，之後他們就讓我出院了，不過還沒完。一週以後我又出現了同樣的問題，喉嚨哽咽、呼吸困難，於是我又去了醫院，我的右肺再次閉合了，這已經是第三次了，這次醫生決定他們要進行手術，以確保這種情況不會再次發生，所以我在醫院住了兩週的時間，他們切除了我肺部的頂部，然後又幫我縫合好，所以現在我的肺部非常健康。自那以後我再沒出現過任何問題，現在我會做大量的跑步運動，我感覺好多了，當然我絕對再也不想發生這樣的情況了！Adrienne: I hope you don't either. That's amazing!
埃德里安娜：我也希望這種情況再也不會發生了。那太讓人吃驚了！Ian: I know. The thing is, my uncle and my father had the same problems so it's probably in my genes, in my families genes, that we have this. It's a common family problem, but anyway, now I am OK.
伊恩：的確是。其實是因爲我爸爸和我叔叔都有同樣的問題，所以這可能是我的基因，我家族的基因有這種病症。這是家族共同的問題，不過不管怎麼樣，我現在已經好了。Adrienne: Wow! That's good!
