外語專業同學都經歷過的14個瞬間
1. A long time ago, when you decided that you liked foreign languages, you thought one of these would be useful and probably bought one.
很久之前當你決定要學習一門外語時，會認爲這些字典很重要，可能還買了一本回來。
2. But quickly realised that searching for words you don’t know online is actually a lot quicker.
但你很快意識到在網上查生詞要快得多。
3. While you may never open that dictionary, you know that remembering vocabulary is the hardest thing in the world. But that swear word you learnt when you were 10 has never been forgotten.
儘管從沒翻開過字典，你知道記單詞是世界上最難的事。可是卻一直沒忘記你10歲時學過的罵人話。
4. You also now know the shortcut to every accent.
現在你知道每種口音的捷徑。
5. You also know the quickest, and cheapest, places to buy translations of the books you were meant to read in the original language.
你知道在哪裏能花最少時間買到最便宜的譯本——儘管你的最初計劃是讀原版。
6. But you can probably spin off a couple of recited lines from a French book.
但你也可能從一本法語書裏學到幾行美句背下來。7. And despite the fact you’ll never match up to this kid who can speak 11 languages…

8. …you can speak a foreign language and that’s pretty awesome.……

9. You probably got the chance to travel abroad, too.
你還有可能得到出國旅遊的機會。
10. When someone tells you: “OMG You speak [insert language here]”, you act like this.
當有人對你說：“哦天啊，你會說……（某種語言）！” 的時候，你的表情是這樣的：
11. Although, secretly, you feel like this.

12. And when you overhear someone having a private conversation in the language you’ve learnt, you’ll secretly smile because you know.
當你不小心聽到有人用你學過的外語進行私人談話時，你會偷着樂，因爲你知道他們說了些什麼。
13. You still get a little excited when you’re walking around and hear someone speaking that language.
當在外面散步時聽到有人在用一門你懂的外語說話，你還會小小興奮一下。
14. When you go to another country, you always try and learn some phrases. I mean, you’re obviously a language genius. And despite receiving this reaction:
當你去另外一個國家時，你總會試着用到學過的新詞組表達。你就是個語言天才，雖然別人的反應可能是這樣。
