世界之旅:Bermuda（神奇百慕大）
“19飛行中隊”，也就是人們所熟知的“失蹤的巡邏隊”，由美國海軍五架“復仇者”魚雷轟炸機組成，該編隊在1945年12月5日從羅德達爾堡起飛執行一項任務時神祕失蹤，沒有留下任何痕跡。該飛行中隊的27名成員在那天夜裏全部無影無蹤，其後執行搜尋任務的“馬丁水手”水上飛機也失蹤了。
難道他們被吸進了時間隧道？難道他們成爲傳說中的大西洋城亞特蘭帝斯帝國的獵物？或者被斯皮爾伯格在電影《第三類親密接觸》所描述的那樣被綁架到了另一個星系？本月，美國國會通過了一項決議，向海軍上尉查里斯•泰勒和“19飛行中隊”成員授予勳章。美國國會的這一舉措引起了很大爭議。來自佛羅里達州的一名叫克萊•肖的共和黨衆議員表示，這項決議是爲了幫助這些飛行員的家人過好以後的生活。肖說：“這裏發生了本該在富有經驗的飛行員身上不該發生的事情。或許有一天我們將會知道究竟發生了什麼，以避免這種神祕事件不再發生。”

這一神祕事件充分支持了人們長久以來所持的一個觀點，那就是有一種可怕的力量潛伏波多黎哥、百慕大和邁阿密所圍成的三角區域，海員和飛行員冒險進入該地區往往遭遇不測。事實似乎也“證明”了這一個觀點：自1945年，數百艘船隻和一千多人在這片150萬平方英里的海域內失蹤。其中包括數十艘堅固的船隻和飛機。在最近的一起事件中，2003年10月一對父子在他們的漁船上神祕失蹤。11月3日當人們發現他們的船隻被海水衝到卡納維拉爾角，此事再度讓人們聯想到了所謂的時空隧道。
Bermuda
Contrary to popular misconception, Bermuda isn't a tropical paradise. On this Atlantic island 508miles due east of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, you will find neither towering mountains, glorious rain forests, nor exotic volcanoes. Instead, pastel cottages, quaint shops, and manicured gardens are the markers of a more staid, suburban way of life. The speed limit is 20mph (although many drivers go faster),golf and tennis are popular pastimes, most visitors are over 40years old ,restaurants and shops are expensive, and casual attire in public is frowned upon.
Bermuda's history is closely tied to England's and that of the United States. The crew of the Sea Venture, whose wreck on Bermuda during a hurricane in 1609began the settlement of the island, was actually on its way to Jamestown, Virginia.(William Shakespeare drew on the accounts of the survivors for The Tempest, written in 1611.)In the centuries since then , Bermuda has been a remarkable barometer of the evolving relationship between the United States and Britain.
In 1775, Bermuda was secretly persuaded to give gunpowder to George Washington in return for the lifting of a trade blockade that threatened the island with starvation the War of 1812, Bermuda was the staging post for the British fleet's attack on Washington, D.C. When Britain faced a national crisis in 1940,it gave the United States land on Bermuda to build a Naval Air Station in exchange for ships and supplies. In 1990,Prime Minister Thatcher and President Bush held talks on the island
所謂百慕大三角(The Bermuda Island)是指北起百慕大羣島，南到波多黎各，西至美國佛羅里達州這樣一片三角形海域，面積約一百萬平方公里。由於這一片海面失蹤事件疊起，世人便稱它爲“地球的黑洞”、“魔鬼三角”近幾十年來陸續有神祕災難事件發生，如1945年有5架轟炸機在此失蹤，1968年一架C132客機失蹤，奇怪的是凡失事的飛機、艦船及人員，均找不到殘賅和屍體
