在當今商品經濟時代，商品買賣活動非常普遍。在日常生活中，人們常會遇到對所購商品質量或售後服務不滿意的情況，這時可以寫投訴信(A Letter of Complaint )求得解決。投訴信與普通書信的格式基本相同。但要注意的是，寫投訴信的目的是爲了求得一個解決問題的辦法而不是爲了泄憤，因此寫信時一定要注意態度誠懇、直截了當。
一、一封投訴信應包括三個最基本的方面：
一般放在信的開頭。常用的表達法有：
I am writing to you about... which I received/bought ...
I am going to complain about ...
I am sorry to have to return with this letter... which I received/bought...
一般講述對商品質量或售後服務不滿意的地方。常用的表達法有：
When we checked..., we noticed...
When I took... out of the bag and examined... closely, I found...
When I unpacked... and tried to use it, it did not work.
。常用的表達法有：
Please let me know what you intend to do in this matter.
I am returning... under separate post and look forward to receiving a full refund of...

二、具體細節
①首段：注意客觀禮貌
a. 自我介紹;
b. 引出投訴內容
c. 表明目的要求。
②主體：展開說明投訴原因、具體理由或後果，注意內容充實，符合交際習慣。
a. 詳細說明情況，中肯提出問題;
b. 提出改進建議，表明希望如何解決;
c. 拓展題目內容，尤其要強調如何問題不解決所帶來的後果。
③尾段：提出解決方案，不用展開，注意公平公正、禮貌原則。
a. 表達強烈願望，希望上述問題得到迅速恰當的解決;
b. 有時可就問題的解決限定時間;
c. 對有關人員的努力表示感謝;
d. 希望儘快得到滿意答覆。
