想不到吧，steel yourself是下決心！
今天英語君看到了一個短語“steel you.self”，可不要以爲是鍊鋼的意思哦！
人家的意思是下決心做某事，就比如說跳傘：
She steeled herself to jump out of the plane.
她心一橫，跳出了飛機。

1. be yourself 行爲自然；不做作
The best thing you can do is to go into the interview and just be yourself.
你最明智的選擇就是進去面試時自然地表現自己。
2. (all) by yourself 獨自地
I'm amazed you managed to move those boxes all by yourself.
你居然能一個人搬動那些箱子，真讓我吃驚。
3. (all) to yourself 獨有；專用
So you have the whole house to yourself this weekend?
那麼，本週末整個房子就是你一個人的天下了？
4. in yourself
這個短語用於詢問某人身體抱恙時的自我感覺。
I know you must still be uncomfortable, but how are you in yourself?
我知道你肯定還是不舒服，不過你自己感覺怎麼樣？
5. help yourself to 自取； 隨便吃
You are asked to help yourself to food.
請你自取食物。
這個短語讓我想到了一句作文加分句：

6. let yourself go
這個短語有兩個意思，第一是放任自流；不修邊幅。

7. lower yourself 降低身份
lower可以做動詞，表示降低；減弱；跌落。
I wouldn't lower myself to respond to his insults if I were you.
我要是你就不會貶低自己的身份，理睬他的辱罵。
8. above yourself 趾高氣揚
高興得意的時候是不是有飄飄然的感覺。所以說高過自己，也就是形容得意忘形自高自大。
Don't be above yourself. You still have a long way to go.
不要得意忘形，你還有很長的路要走。
9. behave yourself 行爲規矩些
Behave yourself or I'll give you a thick ear!
你放規矩一些，不然我就揍你！
形容表現好或者不好，就用well或者badly表示，比如：
She always behaves well/badly when her aunts come to visit.
每當她姨媽來作客時，她總是表現很好／很差。
10. shut yourself off 把自己封閉起來，不再和別人來往
shut sth off主要有這兩個意思：
①關閉（或切斷）…的供應；停止供應
Did you remember to shut off the water and gas before you left the house?
離開房子的時候，你記得關掉水和煤氣了嗎?
②把…封閉起來；將…隔離
The music room is shut off from the rest of the house by a soundproof wall.
隔音板把音樂間和屋內的其他房間隔開了。
shut yourself off顯然用的是第二個意思咯。
When her husband died she seemed to shut herself off from her friends and family.
丈夫去世後，她似乎不再與她的朋友和家人來往了。
11. suit yourself 由自己作主，自便
suit作動詞除了表示適合，適宜於，還翻譯爲對…方便。所以說suit yourself 就翻譯爲自便咯。
"I don't think I'll come to the party tonight." "All right, suit yourself!"
“我想我今晚不會去參加聚會。”“好的，隨你的便吧！”
12. speak for yourself 那是你自己的看法，我不是那樣想的
這個短語通常用於表示不同意某人的觀點。
"We had a really boring trip." "Speak for yourself! I had a wonderful time!"
“我們的旅行可真沒勁。”“我可不這麼想！我玩得很開心！”
要注意，speak up for sb/sth的意思是“支持；爲…辯護”，記得加上up哦！
She has often spoken up for the rights of working mothers.
