託福閱讀技巧(1)概括地觀察 Survey
首先略讀每章或每頁的大概內容，例如：可從書本的序言和目錄開始，通常作者會在序言中交代撰述的重點及動機，而目錄則可幫助你瞭解課本的組織架構及章節層次;閱讀課文的名稱 title，主題 main
headings 及副題 sub-headings;注意每一主題的頭一句，導言 introduction 和本章提要 summary(如果有的話)，圖片說明 captions to all graphics 等，這樣，你不用十五分鐘便對內容有概略的瞭解。
託福閱讀技巧(2)提出一個全面的問題 Write a general question
觀察課文內容後，提出一個包含所有閱讀數據的問題，把問題寫在每章節的開首，令自己可以看到此問題時，便憶起全部內容。

當你看到主題、副題、圖片及首句時，由此而提出有關問題，寫在題目或圖片旁邊，幫助你閱讀文章內容。

在瞭解一段內容後，找出解答問題的重要字key words及短語phrases，並劃記下來。在劃記時可選用熒光筆，既方便又快捷。
託福閱讀技巧(6)修正問題 Revise the questions
如果在閱讀時，發現問題並未得到解答或不明確，可重新寫下問題，並將有關答案的字詞劃記。再重讀文章，遇到不明白的地方，再請教導師或同學。
託福閱讀技巧(7)舉一反三 Use examples
當你理解全文時，便可將知識整理起來，同時，學習類推的方法，將知識應用於其它類似事情或日常生活上，利用聯帶關係，才能把文章內容融會貫通，大大提高你的閱讀興趣和能力。例如：當銀行利率提高時，會使銀行的存款利息增加，而你可能會聯想到投資受影響，或是你會類推更多其它事項。
