Is China's Shenzhen Composite defying the laws of finance or the laws of gravity?

中國的深證綜指(Shenzhen Composite)是否正在違反金融規律，或者萬有引力定律？

The index closed 1 per cent higher to 2,740.92 on Friday. And although that was the fifth consecutive day of record highs, it was the index's weakest daily performance this week by more than half. Boo! For shame!

週五，該指數收漲1%，升至2740.92點。這是它連續第五天刷新創紀錄高點，卻是本週內最差單日表現。

And of the past 11 sessions, there's been just one down day.

在過去連續11個交易日裏，該指數只有一天出現了下跌。

For the week ended May 22, the Shenzhen Composite gained a whopping 12.2 per cent. This is the biggest weekly advance since a 16.7 per cent gain in the week ended November 14, 2008. And you might recall that it was November 9, when Beijing announced a Rmb4tn ($586bn) stimulus package to support the Chinese economy during the financial crisis.

The Shenzhen Comp is now up 93.7 per cent year-to-date, easily outperforming every other market on the globe. If it rises another 90 points it will have doubled for the year. And it's not even June.

今年迄今，深證綜指已上漲93.7%，輕而易舉地擊敗全球其他股市。如果再上漲90點，該指數今年將上漲一倍，而今年甚至還沒過去一半。

The Shanghai Composite closed 2.8 per cent higher to 4,657.6 on Friday, a fresh seven-year high. It was up 8.1 per cent for the week, its best performance since a 9.5 per cent gain in the week ended December 5, 2014. The index is up 44 per cent year-to-date.

週五，上證綜指(Shanghai Composite)收漲2.8%，收於4657.6點，爲7年來新高點。該指數本週漲幅爲8.1%，是2014年12月5日以來漲幅最大的一週。今年迄今，該指數已上漲44%。
