威廉王子大婚紀念幣發行 WC組合V5

Prince William and fiancée Kate Middleton - whose birth name is really Catherine - have been forced to change the design of their wedding souvenir plates, mugs and trinket boxes to avoid crude jokes.

Commemorative items were going to display the initials of the couple as WC, before designers spotted the gaffe and switched them.

'When the collection was being designed they immediately noticed the problem,' a source at the Palace tells The Sun.

'If they followed tradition with the man's name first it would have been an embarassing royal flush.'

Princess-to-be Kate, 29, will now be the first royal bride ever to have her initial featured above the groom's on the official souvenir china.

The English fine bone china plates, tankards and pillboxes will now feature the initials CW, on a duck-egg blue background, surrounded by the words: 'To celebrate the Marriage of Prince William of Wales and Catherine Middleton.'【相關中文報道】

據英國每日郵報報道，近日，已有200年曆史的伯明翰造幣廠，發行了威廉和凱特大婚的紀念幣。而頭髮濃密、看上去只有18歲少年模樣的王子頭像，與威廉幾近謝頂的本尊，相距甚遠。

紀念幣上刻有“慶祝威廉王子殿下和凱瑟琳·米德爾頓(Catherine Middleton)的婚禮”，以及新人頭像。造幣局稱，畫家從一些圖像得到靈感，並創作出了他們認爲“非常精準”的肖像。

而當工作人員意識到這對新人名字縮寫是“WC”(廁所的英文縮寫)後，紀念幣背面的標示被重新修改。爲了避免尷尬，凱特(Catherine)名字的首字母被放置於未婚夫的上面。

造幣廠希望能售出10萬枚紀念幣。本週三開始，人們花5英鎊，就能得到。
