The chart describes the development of higher education in China, evaluated by the gross enrolment ratio, which has rocketed from 3.4% to 51.6% since 1990. It is clear that over the last thirty years, higher education in China has taken a huge leap forward.
There are mainly two reasons behind such an impressive accomplishment. First, economic boost has changed people’s view on when to start working to support the family. Unlike thirty years ago, when most people hold the view that higher education is not that necessary and they should start working as early as possible to make a living, nowadays people generally favours a higher education to ensure their competency in job markets. Consequently, people are putting more effort in acquiring a higher education. Second, Chinese government has issued a series of policies to ensure the access to higher education for more people than ever. From educational loans to special projects for students from rural and poor areas, more students can now go to college to study and change their lives.
In conclusion, higher education in China has witnessed tremendously positive development, and we should harness this precious opportunity to better ourselves and pursue our dreams.

海南是僅次於臺灣的中國第二大島，是位於中國最南端的省份。海南島風景秀麗，氣候宜人，陽光充足，生物多樣，溫泉密佈，海水清澈，大部分海灘幾乎全年都是游泳和日光浴的理想場所，因而被譽爲中國的四季花園和度假勝地，每年都吸引了大批中外遊客。
海南1988年建省以來，旅遊業、服務業、高新技術產業飛速發展，是中國唯一的省級經濟特區。在中央政府和全國人民的大力支持下，海南將建成中國最大的自由貿易試驗區。

Hainan, located at the southernmost of China, is China's second largest island after Taiwan. The island is featured with beautiful sceneries, pleasant climate, abundant sunshine, biodiversity, dense hot springs and clear seawater. As most of the beaches are ideal places for swimming and sunbathing all year round, it is well regarded as China’s four-season garden as well as a popular tourist resort, attracting a huge number of travellers from home and abroad every year.
Ever since its establishment in 1988, Hainan province has witnessed rapid development in tourism, service, and high-tech industries, and has become the only provincial-level special economic zone in China. With the strong support of the central government and the people of China, the nation's largest pilot free trade zone will be built in Hainan.
