北京消息，週三，中國外交部副部鄭澤光奉命召見美國駐華使館臨時代辦李凱安，就美國對臺軍售向美方提出嚴正交涉。

鄭澤光在美國政府宣佈10億美元的對臺軍售案（arms sale package）後不久發表聲明。
鄭澤光表示，臺灣是中國領土不可分割的一部分（Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory）。中方堅決反對（strongly oppose）美國向臺灣出售武器。美方向臺灣出售武器（arms sale）嚴重違反國際法（go against international law）和國際關係基本準則（the basic norms of international relations），嚴重違反中美三個聯合公報原則（the principles in the three China-US joint communiques），嚴重損害中國主權（severely harms China's sovereignty）和安全利益（security interests）。爲了維護國家利益（safeguard our national interests），中方決定採取必要措施（take necessary measures），包括對參與此次美方向臺灣出售武器的企業實施制裁（impose sanctions against the companies involved in the arms sale）。
鄭澤光強調，任何人都不能動搖中國政府和人民捍衛國家主權和領土完整（defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity）、反對外來干涉（oppose foreign interference）的堅定意志（the firm will）。中方敦促美方恪守（abide by）在中美三個聯合公報中作出的明確承諾（the clear commitment），撤銷上述售臺武器計劃（revoke the arms sale plan），停止美臺軍事聯繫（stop military contact，停止軍事聯繫），以免給中美關係（China-US relations）和雙方重要領域的合作（bilateral cooperation in major areas）造成進一步損害。
美國政府週三正式通知國會，向臺灣出售兩艘佩裏級護衛艦（frigate）、標槍反坦克導彈、陶式-2B反坦克導彈（anti-tank missiles）、AAV-7兩棲突擊車（amphibious assault vehicles）、毒刺防空導彈及其他裝備，共18.3億美元(約合118億人民幣)，這是美國四年多來首次對臺售武。
白宮表示，美國支持一箇中國政策（"one China" policy）不變（no change）。
