句子一般可以分成幾個部分，每一個部分在句中具有一定功能，稱爲句子成分。不同的句子成分由一定的詞類或詞組充當。
1.主語(Subject)
主語是句子的主體，是一個句子中需要加以說明或者描述的對象。主語一般是由名詞、代詞、數詞、非謂語動詞或名詞性從句充當。例如：
The plane has just taken off at the airport.
飛機剛從機場起飛。(名詞詞組作主語)
They are students from the United States.
他們是來自美國的學生。(代詞作主語)
Twelve divided by three is four.
十二除以三等於四。(數詞作主語)
To have the English news recorded takes up much of my spare time.
