Todd: OK, Gabrielle, you are a vegetarian.

託德：加布裏埃爾，你是一個素食主義者。

Gabrielle: That's right!

加布裏埃爾：沒錯！

Todd: So, you do not eat meat!

託德：所以你不吃肉類！

Gabrielle: I don't. No meat, no fish!

加布裏埃爾：不吃。不吃肉類，不吃魚類！

Todd: OK, and you said that you have a garden.

託德：好，你說過你有一個花園。

Gabrielle: Yeah, I'm lucky to have enough room to have a vegetable garden, as well as a flower garden, so I love growing veggies.

加布裏埃爾：對，我很幸運，我家裏有足夠的空間建了個菜園，還有一個花園，我喜歡種植蔬菜。

Todd: Oh, nice! Can you tell us about your garden and what you grow and what you eat?

託德：真好！你能跟我說說你家的花園嗎，你都種什麼，吃什麼？

Gabrielle: Sure absolutely! Well, I guess in the summertime, I grow a lot of salad vegetables: lettuce, green onions, tomatoes, and over the winter, whatever grows pretty much, carrots or cabbages, broccoli.

加布裏埃爾：當然可以！在夏天的時候我會種許多能用來做沙拉的蔬菜：包括萵苣、大蔥、西紅柿；而冬天則會種大量的胡蘿蔔、捲心菜和花椰菜。

Todd: Wow, you grow vegetables all year round!

託德：哇，你一整年都在種蔬菜！

Gabrielle: I try. I try. I'm not a great gardener. Yeah, so!

加布裏埃爾：我儘量這樣做，儘量。我並不是一個好的園丁。就這樣！

Todd: And what things do you like to make with these vegetable?

託德：這些蔬菜你喜歡和什麼一起搭配來吃？

Gabrielle: Ah, in the summer time I love just raw vegetables, so salads are great, and I eat them with Tofu or, yeah, vegetables are good. (OK) Yeah in winter soups. I love making soup with fresh veggies.

加布裏埃爾：夏天的時候我喜歡吃生蔬菜，做成沙拉很棒，我會搭配豆腐來吃，蔬菜非常棒。（好的）冬天的時候就做湯喝。我喜歡用新鮮的蔬菜做湯。

Todd: Oh, what kind of soup?

託德：哪種湯？

Gabrielle: Well, I don't follow recipes actually, so what ever veggies I have go in the pot. Yeah, tomato soup, corn soup's good.

加布裏埃爾：實際上我並不按照食譜做，我把菜園裏有的蔬菜都放進鍋裏。當然，西紅柿湯和玉米湯非常好。

Todd: Sounds good. How do you make soup?I mean what is your procedure?

託德：聽起來不錯。你怎麼做湯？我是說步驟是什麼？

Gabrielle: OK, well, basically I take whatever vegetables I have, chop them up and cook them, boil them lightly. I like them still crunchy and then I often add a base of some salt, a stock, a veggie stock.

加布裏埃爾：好，基本上來說我會用我能找到的蔬菜做湯，把蔬菜切碎然後稍微炒煮一下。我喜歡吃起來脆脆的蔬菜，之後放點鹽就行了，這樣就做成了高湯，蔬菜高湯。

Todd: Now that's normally a problem for vegetarians right, cause you can't use bouillon, (Yeah) the beef cube or the chicken cube.

託德：這對素食主義者來說是個問題，因爲你們不用肉湯來調味，（對），比如牛肉粒或是雞精塊之類的。

Gabrielle: Sure, at home actually, we have a lot of vegetarian products available so I get some organic veggie stock, or alternatively, I use some spices, some cumin or basil spice, yeah, or sometimes lentils I cook up. Yeah!

加布裏埃爾：沒錯，通常在家裏我們有很多素食產品，所以我會做有機時蔬高湯，或者我會用一些調味料，一些孜然或是羅勒葉，有時我烹飪時也會用小扁豆。嗯！

Gabrielle: No problem, you're welcome.
