美語情景對話 第363期:Knitting 編織

When I was a little girl, I used to knit all the time. I used to knit jumpers and hats and scarves. I even used to knit little dolls sometimes: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs for example.

我還是小女孩的時候，經常會一直織東西。我織過套衫，帽子和圍巾。我甚至織過小娃娃，舉個例子，我曾經織過白雪公主和七個小矮人。

When you knit with two needles you can put the thread or the wool around your needles in different ways, so that you get different patterns in the wool. So in this picture for example, you have two different stitches. The one on the left is called "rib stitch" and the one on the right is called pearl stitch. Yesterday I started to knit a scarf for myself. The wool is dark green and it's in rib stitch. Until today I've knitted four balls of wool, but I think I will need ten all together, because it is going to be a very big scarf to help keep me warm this winter.

你用兩根針編織的時候，可以用兩種方法把線或者毛線繞過毛衣針，這樣你就可以織出不同的圖案了。以這幅圖爲例，這件衣服就使用了不同的針法。左邊的針法名爲羅紋編織，而右邊則是珠式編織。昨天我開始爲自己織圍巾。我選的毛線顏色是深綠色，而我用的針法是羅紋編織。現在我已經織完四球毛線了，不過我想我可能一共需要十球毛線，因爲我要織條大圍巾，這樣我在冬天的時候就能保暖了。
