美語情景對話 第231期:First Job 第一份工作
Todd: Lois, what was your first job?
託德：洛伊斯，你第一份工作是什麼？Lois: The first job I had was a sales assistant in a shoe shop.
洛伊斯：我的第一份工作是在一家鞋店做銷售助理。Todd: Oh, shoes.
託德：哦，鞋。
Lois: Shoe shop, yeah! When I was fifteen, I got my first job and I used to work every Saturday for maybe 8 hours a day and I used to earn, 1 pound 77 pence per hour.
洛伊斯：鞋店，對！那時我15歲，我得到了第一份工作，我每週六工作八個小時，當時的工資是每小時1.77英鎊。Todd: It doesn't sound like very much.
託德：聽上去掙得不多。Lois: No, so in England now, the minimum I think is maybe 5 pounds.
洛伊斯：的確是，現在英格蘭的最低工資大概是每小時5英鎊。Todd: Oh, wow!
託德：哦，哇！Lois: So by the time I'd got the bus to Bournemouth,the town, and bought my breakfast at Mcdonald's, and then gone out for lunch and then got the bus home, I had no money left, but at the time cause I got paid at the end of the month, I always thought I had money, because suddenly all this money would appear in my bank account, but then I would have already spent it all, within the day of work.
洛伊斯：那時我要坐公交去伯恩茅斯鎮，在麥當勞買早餐吃，中午去餐廳吃飯，然後下班坐公交車回家，我幾乎存不下什麼錢，不過因爲我是在月末拿工資，我總覺得我有錢，原因是這些錢會突然出現在我的銀行帳戶上，可是之後我就會在上班的期間把它們都花完。Todd: Wow. So how long did you last at this job?
託德：哇。你這份工作做了多長時間？Lois: I worked all together I think in three different shoe shops, so the first one I worked in for a year and then that one closed down, so then they moved me to another one, the same company, and then from that one I moved to another one , but then I had to leave my job when I had to do my exams at school cause I needed to study.
洛伊斯：我想我一共在三家鞋店做過，第一家店我幹了大概一年，後來那家鞋店倒閉了，於是他們把我調去了同一個公司的另一家店，然後我又去了第三家店，不過後來我不得不辭職，因爲我要準備學校的考試，我要學習。
