請耐心等待。
sit tight這個說法是來自撲克牌遊戲,有的時候,一個參加遊戲的人本可以繼續玩,但是他放棄叫牌的機會而選擇觀望的態度,形容“不採取任何行動,耐心等待、堅持主張、靜待事態的發展”。現在我們常用這個習慣用語告誡人們:“不要着急,請耐心等待”。因此,當美國人說"Sit tight, please."時,他/她要表達的意思就是:"Wait patiently, please."、"Hold your horses, please."。

Client: Excuse me. I'd like to see Mr. Smith, please. I made an appointment yesterday.
